Dedicated to the craft beer scene, with more than 16 years of professional brewing experience...
Mount Arrowsmith Head Brewer
Home-grown brewer David Woodward has been brewing professionally in the BC Craft Beer scene for over 14 years. Realizing brewing was in his nature early on, in 2002 Dave decided the UK was the place he needed to go to hone his craft and take the step from die-hard home brewer to full-fledged professional. Completing his brewing studies in the UK and working his way around the sophisticated brewing scene of England for a few years left Dave ready to return to British Columbia and commit to what was then just a fledging Craft Beer, but one that proved ready to explode – good timing.
For 5 years Dave was a staple at the Whistler BrewHouse where he became well known on the BC Craft Beer scene for producing great tasting, west-coast inspired, sessionable beers. Following his tenure in Whistler, Dave took an opportunity to become a part of a new craft brewery project being started in Tofino on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
With Dave as head brewer Tofino brewing grew – and quickly – becoming well known for its quality and highly drinkable beers. But Dave wasn’t finished yet.
Following the success of Tofino Brewing, Dave decided to take another opportunity to helm a brand new brewpub being created in Victoria BC – known as The Axe and Barrel. With quality beer flowing regularly The Axe and Barrel quickly became a Craft Beer destination in the increasingly sophisticated Craft scene in Victoria.
Dave, now with many years and multiple projects under his belt in the Craft Beer world, began to feel the call to return to his home-town roots and bring his quality craft to his family and friends in Parksville / Qualicum Beach. When a family-friend connection put Matt and Dan in contact, and discussions began on the upcoming Craft Brewery project in his hometown (finally!), it was a sign which couldn’t be ignored and Dave made the call to join the new small venture in his little home-town. And aren’t we glad he did!
